CupcakeCamp NYC 2 - Who's in?

We're trying to get a general idea if everyone/anyone is interested in a summer CupcakeCamp. The one we are currently brainstorming is another 21+ event (it's a venue issue - all ages places are hard to come by). But, we are also thinking about an all age shindig sometime this summer too. So, tell us your thoughts/opinions/gripes/suggestions/etc. in the comments section. We are here for the cupcake lovin' New Yorkers, so tell us what you want!

I know a few of you expressed interest via e-mail a while ago, but send me another note and I'll organize a meeting for us. Bakers - are you interested in participating in a bake sale?

Hey bakers! I've been in conversations with another event organizer who would love to have a bake sale at his upcoming literary/comedy show. If you're interested and would like to sign up, e-mail me at cupcakecampnyc@gmail.com. We only need between 5 to 10 bakers who can commit to making 2 to 3 dozen cupcakes each.

And if you need an additional reason to join in the fun, Scott Adsit from 30 Rock will be the judge of the show, so come on out and get your cupcakes in front of a television star!

New York City's first ever CupcakeCamp = SUCCESS!

Well cupcakers, with over 230 people in attendance and the bar making six times what they normally make on a Friday night between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., I think it's safe to say that New York City loves cupcakes (and drinkin').

To everyone who came out - thank you. Each and everyone one of you contributed to CupcakeCamp's success, and now you having bragging rights to say,"I was at the first NYC CupcakeCamp, you know..." Seriously, to everyone who brought cupcakes to the people who ate until their stomachs were going to explode, thank you for being an awesome crowd. I met so many fantastic people last night and am excited about all the new folks I can now call my friends.

Another big thank you to Buttercup Bake Shop, Magnolia Bakery and Baked by Melissa for donating cupcakes. And extra big thank you to Billy's Bakery, who not only donated cupcakes but had some live representation at the event who graciously handed out free cupcake coupons to the crowd (thanks Maggie!). Be sure to visit Billy's in Chelsea and their new second location in Tribeca (opening at the end of May!).

Another big thank you to the ladies at Cupcakes Take the Cake. Not only did they step up and help us with publicity efforts, they are just a super cool group of girls to work with. Talk about the best media sponsor you could ever possibly have!

And to Brian Witte, graphic designer extraordinaire - I keep the poster you designed open on my desktop because I STILL can't get over how great it turned out. For anyone interested in hiring this talented designer, get in touch. I'll connect you to him.

And let's not forget Happy Ending. Frank and Oliver - you guys rule. You guys treated us like royalty the whole night and were, hands down, the greatest venue folks I've ever worked with. Thank you thank you thank you thank you for letting us have CupcakeCamp at your fantastic bar.

Lastly, watching a large group of adults collectively go through a sugar rush then the subsequent crash on a Friday night in New York City was easily one of the highlights of my life thus far. I can't wait to see all of you out at future CupcakeCamps - they are going to be bigger and better than the first!

Cheers,
Mary Ann

P.S. Be sure to check out the photo's at Cupcakes Take the Cake (here). Also, if you have photos from the event, e-mail me at cupcakecampnyc@gmail.com. I want to upload your pics to Flickr!

CupcakeCamp TONIGHT!

Hello Cupcakers -

The day has finally arrived- CupcakeCamp NYC is tonight! Before you head out to stuff yourself silly with cupcakes, here are a few things to remember:

1.) The whole point of the event is to eat cupcakes. So, if you signed up to bring some, please do so and don't flake out. If everyone takes this approach, CupcakeCamp will be cupcake-less. And for those of you that hadn't planned to bring any from the get go, we strongly encourage you to pick up a dozen on your way over. If everyone does this, we'll have over 2,000 cupcakes! And that means more for you to enjoy.

2.) Everyone bringing cupcakes should arrive by 7:15 so we can register your cakes.

3.) YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD TO ATTEND. The event is taking place at a bar - no exceptions to the age restriction can be granted.

4.) Have fun. If everyone who has signed up to bring cupcakes ACTUALLY follows through, the numbers work out to about 2 to 3 cupcakes per person (hence the reason it will be more fun if EVERYONE brings something to contribute). This isn't a guarantee though. Over 250 people have RSVP'd, so please keep in mind that your cup may not overfloweth with cupcake goodness.

5.) Tip your bartenders - Happy Ending did us a major favor by letting us hold the event at their bar, so show them some love.

See you all tonight!

We need help finding a venue!

We're having some difficulty finding a venue - apparently bar owners want guaranteed sales and are not the cupcake lovers we assumed they would be. So, if any of you know of someone that has a space (preferably a bar - we think that will add to the social nature of the event) and would be cool with us using their space, then get in touch with us at cupcakecampnyc@gmail.com!

Cheers!
